Murdock is an Indiana Four Star School!
Our Mission
Our Mission
Recognizing that all children can learn, the Murdock Elementary School community provides an atmosphere of learning, sharing and caring while developing social and emotional competencies, respect for individual differences, academic excellence and communication skills, while nurturing and supporting the unique capabilities of each student.
Murdock Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through 4th grade in the heart of Lafayette, IN. Nestled in beautiful Murdock Park, the school has a tradition of consistent, quality education and community outreach. Murdock's mission is to inspire and empower all children to learn and dream.
Murdock has a schoolwide Title 1 program that serves an ethnically diverse and mobile population. The U.S. Department of Education provides supplemental funding to local Title 1 school districts to meet the needs of at-risk and low-income students. At Murdock, Title 1 funds have been used to improve curriculum and instructional activities, increase parental involvement and invigorate existing programs.
FOCUS, or Families Organized within the Community United with Schools, is a federally funded after-school program that unites Murdock with community entities to provide after-school enrichment activities for Murdock children and families. Homework help, reading and computer time, recreation, and other activities complement classroom work and enhance the learning environment.
"Believe and you will become."
Administration
Hello Murdock Family! My name is Denise DesEnfants and I am the new principal at Murdock. I have been an educator in the Lafayette School Corporation since August of 1999. I was a teacher at Washington Elementary School and Vinton Elementary School for several years. The last 8 1/2 years, I was an assistant principal at Tecumseh Junior High. I am excited to start this new adventure at Murdock. If you ever have questions please call, email, or stop by the school.
